If you would like to enroll your child in a public kindergarten: Educational Affairs Section

Every year around July and August public kindergartens will advertise on the city's newsletter "Tsunagari" for the next year's kindergarten students, who are currently 3 to 5 years old. Please apply directly to the school you are interested in. If you wish to change your child's current school, please call the school to which you would like to transfer.

Enrollment Procedure for Elementary School:Educational Affairs Section

In the year before your child enrolls in the elementary school, a "Notification of Current Health Examination" ("shugakudoki no kenko shindan") will be sent to you from the Sports Health Section in the middle of October. In the year of enrollment, the Educational Affairs Section will send you a "Notification of Admission" ("shugaku tsuchi-sho") at the end of January.  These notifications will not be sent unless you have registered as a city resident at the City Hall. Please have the health checkup done at the designated elementary school with the attendance of a guardian or someone who is in charge. And please do not forget to bring your "Notification of Health Examination" with you. (The health checkup will be carried out in November.)

  • Please contact us immediately if you do not receive the "Notification of Admission" or if there is any mistake in your notification or if you are not able to enroll your child in the appointed school.

Enrollment Procedure for Junior High School: Educational Affairs Section

The Board of Education will send a "Notification of Admission" appointing a junior high school for all 6th graders in the middle of January.

  • Please contact us immediately if you do not receive the "Notification of Admission" or if there is any mistake in your notification or if you are not able to enroll your child in the appointed school.

Procedure for School Transfer: Educational Affairs Section

  • Transfer Out:
    Please go to the Citizens' Affairs Department or the branch office and follow the procedures. Then you will be able to obtain a "Notification of Removal from School Register" ("gakuseki sakujyo tsuchi-sho") at the Educational Affairs Section. If you submit the notification to the school your child had attended to, school documents such as school identification ("zaigaku shomei-sho") will be handed over to you.
  • Transfer In:
    Please go to the Citizens' Affairs Department or the branch office and follow the procedures. Then submit the former school's school identification and obtain the "Notification of Admission for the Appointed School" ("shugaku shitei tsuchi-sho"), which should be presented to the new school.
