Foreign nationals who plan to stay in Japan for more than 90 days are required to file for Foreign Resident Registration.
Requisites: Application form (available at the service window); Passport; Two photos (No background, clear image, length 4.5cm x width 3.5cm. Not required for those under 16 years old).
Application Period: Within 90 days of entry
Applicant: In person

If an applicant is a new-born infant, or who has become a foreign national by renouncing Japanese nationality, a notification is required.
Requisites: Seal (inkan). If either father or mother's Resident Status Permission is Special Permanent Resident, Certificate of Birth Registration or Acceptance of the Birth Report is required.
Application Period: Within 60 days
Applicant: Either father, mother or in person.

When you change your address, registration is required.
Requisites: Certificate of Foreign Resident Registration
Application Period: Within 14 days
Applicants: Either in person or by a family member living in the same household who is over 16 years old.
